Storyline:
Homer adopts a pig who's run away from Krusty Burger after Krusty tried to have him slaughtered, naming the pig "Spider Pig." At the same time, the lake is protected after the audience sink the barge Green Day are on with garbage after they mention the environment. Meanwhile, Spider Pig's waste has filled up a silo in just 2 days, apparently with Homer's help. Homer can't get to the dump quickly so dumps the silo in the lake, polluting it. Russ Cargill, the villainous boss of the EPA, gives Arnold Schwarzenegger 5 options, forcing him to choose 4 (which is, unfortunately, to destroy Springfield) and putting a dome over Springfield to prevent evacuation. Homer, however, has escaped, along with his family. Can he stop the evil Cargill from annihilating his home town, and his family, who have been forced to return to Springfield?

This long awaited film version of the beloved tv show "The Simpsons" was just what the doctor ordered. It's always a grab bag whether a tv show will translate well to film, but in this case, I give it two Coriander Stalks UP! From the start of the movie, you're not sure what to expect, and frankly I was expecting Kang to show up - and was surprised! There were many surprises along the way. Lisa meets a new guy. Bart takes a shining to Flanders. DOH! But, the highlight of the movie is definitely Spider Pig. I can't explain it more without giving things away, but he's a keeper! This has action, adventure, the raunchy jokes we've come to love and cherish from the Simpsons' gang, and a heartwarming love story to boot. I recommend seeing The Simpsons Movie for a feel good time away from the troubles in the world.

The Simpsons on the big screen are a wonder that takes the family we've known all these years and drags us into the chaos. I can see why some folks would think that the movie is just stuff that we've seen before, but that's not correct, and more importantly, that's not the point. You've got to allow yourself to BE in the crowds, feel the energy, smell the pig poop, and take advantage being surrounded by Springfield. Others have talked about the plot points. I'll say that the emotional content is there, it's something that -- amazingly -- can bring a tear to the eye. For once, you realize that Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Maggie... and the hundreds of Springfield denizens...are a lot more three dimensional and a lot more REAL than we want to admit. It's fast, its loud, its crude, but it's real. See it more than once. You'll be amazed at how much you can take with you. To rip off another cultural event: "Don't SEE it, BE it!"

After 18yrs and more than 300+ episodes.THE SHOW, the longest running(let's not count Bob Barker lol lol) is finally hitting the silver screen guys!!! I've been a faithful fan since i've been 12 - 27 now^-^( use to watch it in spanish back in D.R hhehe), own the seasons even got my younger siblings into this. Just like Transformers, your looking at atleast 2 generations of fans(even the one who just occasionally watch) who are going to run out and see it or just going to check it out just for the hype. Speaking as a fan this film is a DEFINITE MUST GO!! So go grab some popcorn and some raisinets(Fav lol) and enjoy one last gut laugthing adventure with Homer and the gang! DOH!

been a big simpsons fan for years, i thought itd be difficult to have a plot that would be long enough for a movie but it was perfect. spider pig was hilarious and i was laughing for hours at the song afterwards. the political jokes and implications were outrageous as well. 4 stars, 2 thumbs up, and one of the best movies ive seen in a long time

If you love the show, you have to see this movie. It's basically an hour and a half long show but they get to do jokes not suitable for tv. I laughed the entire time. There was not down points.
