u must go seee this with a mom or sumone who resembles her becase it will be such a powerfull and valauble experience

For those who read the book and want to see this movie, don't. The movie cannot come close to the humor and cleverness that the book portrays. It is a sorry excuse for an adaptation and rushes everything. Also, Scarlett Johansson's narrating, awful. Felt like she was reading off a list, not acting. If you did not read the book, you may like the film. However, character relationships are rushed and the acting is sub par (everyone but Laura Linney that is who did fabulous)

My problem with the movie is I don't care about how an upper east side New York family raises its son. I was more interested in Annie's (Scarlett Johansson's) love life, which was pretty much nonexistent. The movie moves slowly and doesn't get interesting until the end.

My husband and I planned to attend for a "date". We like romantic comedies. And, just plain comedies also. We decided to ask the kids. Our daughter wanted to come ( 6th grader) and our son (10th grader) did not. It was Friday night, theatre was filled with girls/women. My husband was one of 3. We enjoyed it. Didn't love it. It wasn't as funny as we expected from the trailers...it was really about some important life issues and a girl growing up and making discoveries. Lots of stereotypes in the movie. I hope my daughter's take away wasn't that you need to defy your parents and lie etc. in order to "find yourself". That's a message that too often in films and TV and books today. It had a good ending. That's important to us.
