Storyline:
Grief, recovery, and human contact. Brian is a great guy - a sweet father, a good husband, and a loyal friend to his boyhood pal Jerry who's a junkie. When tragedy strikes, Jerry tries to help Brian's wife and children cope, and Audrey, Brian's widow, tries to help Jerry kick the habit. Loss and addiction are stubborn. The story starts on the day of the funeral, with Brian appearing in flashbacks. A neighbor's divorce, a dinner party that includes a young woman from the Narcotics Anonymous group Jerry attends, and thinking back to a fire in Brian and Audrey's garage give the story texture.

Seriously. Saw it at an advanced screening and I will bring everyone I know to see it again and again. Its like a spectrum of human emotion that is portrayed by some truly amazing acting. I love love love this movie!

Just went to see this movie and cried thru most of it, it was great, Halle and Benicio are magic together, and the two children are adorable. Its a Must see, but bring plenty of kleenex. A+++++ movie.

Wow! Finally, this movie is coming out. Seen the very first screening about two years ago. I thought at the time this movie should be nominated for the 2007 Oscar Awards but I guess it will be for 2008. I'm sure they want the movie to be Best Picture nominated. Anyway, the movie will capture your heart in such a way that every emotional feeling will be touched and caressed and leaving you with heart-filled joy. Without giving too much about the movie, everything is not truly lost in the fire but it is the wholesome family love that one can see from either a relative or friend that connect in harmony. This movie is a guaranteed numerous Oscar Nominations. Del Toro and Berry want to add another to their mantel:)

Do not go to this movie if you can't sit still for two hours or if trying to understand, grasp and feel a flurry of emotions is not your cup of tea. It's slow, it delves into two of the most terrible pains a human can feel. Superb acting, not too much or fake, just right from both Benicio and Halle. I wish more people would see this movie...it's breathtaking.

My wife and I went to see this hoping it would be a thoughtful, redemption-type story. It tried, but never really got anywhere. On the plus side, Del Toro was very believable as a drug addict, and Duchovny turned in a great (albeit too short) performance as a loyal friend and husband. Unfortunately, it was just impossible to like Halle Berry's character. And once again, the movie never got anywhere. There didn't seem to be any point or resolution, but not in a clever, artsy way of leaving things hanging either. Just incomplete. If you're looking for an intelligent, thought-provoking movie to see, take a pass on this one and go see Gone Baby Gone. We left the theater blown away after that one.
