Storyline:
Unable to afford the tuition needed to fund her private school education, Rayanna or Raya (Rutina Wesley) returns to her family home in the city while reluctantly re-evaluating her future. Upon learning that the top prize for an upcoming step-dancing competition is $50,000, Raya uses her impressive moves to earn a coveted slot in her good friend Bishop's (Dwain Murphy) predominantly male JSJ crew. Isolated from the local females due to jealousy and separated from her fellow dancers by gender, the ambitious dancer is subsequently kicked-off the team for showing off during a preliminary competition. Now, if Raya has any hope of realizing her medical school dreams, she will have to either earn back Bishop's trust or organize her own dance crew and start over from scratch. In the end, she eventually learns "how she move".

I love dance, stomp and battle movies. Most of you dont understand or dancing is just not in your hearts. however i must say i was a little disappointed in the casting. sorry but it was a little amateur. believe me i hate to admit it. I'm the number one fan of these type of movies and although i do not regret going to see it, i do wish i could give it more stars. P.S. i will still be buying it on dvd on it's release date!!

Not just another dance movie... Well, it is, kind of... But it has excellent acting as well and a compelling story line. It brings in an element that other "Dance" genre movies have lacked... YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE CHARACTERS!!! Of course it has all the great moves and fast pace camera editing we've come to expect from this kind of film but the South African Gumboot style of step sets it worlds apart from Stomp the Yard or other such movies. Rich history and amazing choreography makes it a visually stimulating film. As a dancer/stepper myself, I was impressed with the skill presented by the actors/dancers in this movie. I wasn't bored once. This surprised me. I was going to let this one wait until DVD or the discount movie theatre but I'm happy that I didn't. A must see for any dancer or fan of dancing and culture. Enjoy! HOW SHE MOVE will move you...! ~Blessings~

not only was the dancing good but the movie deals with real stuff & actually has believable acting & script. and also 2 thumbs up on the dancing.

How she move is a terrible movie w/o a plot and with terrible acting. You can also barely understand some of the dialogue between actors. I do not recommend this film to anyone

This was an awesome movie! Contrary to what the trailer leads you to believe, the movie really isn't about dance, but rather stepping. It was an energetic movie, unfortunately, with a predictable outcome. The drama was great, and this is definitely a "can't wait 'til it comes out on video" type movie. It isn't a family movie by any means, because of the language. I recommend this movie to anyone who is still in love with the dance/romance type movies, and also for someone who is looking to see some good stepping. And for step enthusiasts and members of fraternities and sororities, I must say the Kappas and Alphas (I think that's who they were...if not, the Qs) repped well in this movie.
