He makes peace with his tormentor by going into business with him: listening to kids' problems and selling them prescription drugs. To say this film is comparable to Juno would be only partially true in that it does have a high schooler trying to deal with things "way beyond [his] maturity level".
This film is a fresh take on life in high school and trying to fit in. Charlie has been kicked out of every private school he's attended because of his endeavor to be "po****r", which he goes about the wrong way. So the only option left is public school.
Getting a rough start he finally gets a foot in the door with his po****rity concept. Then when everything is hunky dory, it's about time everything comes crashing down. And well, it does.
But in the end, like an audience loves, we do have a good resolution.
If you want a funny, realistic, growing up movie this is it.
I wouldn't take your kids to watch it, there's language and brief nudity. I'd say, no one that hasn't gone through puberty yet should see it until a guardian has screened it.
Degrassi fans - five of your fav appear in this film, watch it for them.

A movie that begins with high hopes but gets lost in trying to go into too many directions , none of them totally successful. I really wish the director had made a decision as to what the movie was meant to say, but there were way too many (simplistic) messages and allusions to characters in other movies. I really wanted to like the main character but ultimately didn't because he was not credible.
About halfway through the movie I started to lose interest and stopped being amused by the humor as well. I think this could have been an absolutely amazing movie -- the issue of psychotropic drugs is very current, and was reduced to a funny subplot. The issue of teen angst and suicide was similarly glossed over, without going into any depth. The adults (Hope David and Robert Downey Jr) were reduced to caricatures but managed to steal the show with superlative acting
I would recommend seeing this on DVD -- worth seeing, yes, but not worth shelling out for a ticket.

Smart, new, innovative, funny, though not just a stupid teen movie even though it's based around high school. This movie is nothing epic like lord of the rings or indiana jones, but if you've been disappointed in movies lately like I have, you must see Charlie Bartlett.
