Storyline:
In 2012, amid economic chaos and high unemployment, Americans watch by the millions as criminals with life sentences race armored cars on Terminal Island. Two-thirds of the combatants die but the winner may earn his freedom. On the day he loses his job, steelworker Jensen Ames is arrested for his wife's murder. Sent to Terminal Island, he's offered an out by the steely and manipulative Warden Hennessey - race as the popular mask-wearing (but now dead) champion, Frankenstein, or rot in prison. Jensen makes the bargain. As the three-stage race approaches, he realizes that the whole thing may be a set up - can an anonymous man behind a mask get revenge and win his release?

Death Race is absolutely GREAT!!! i loved every minute of it. there wasn't a moment in this movie that i thought was boring. Every cast member did a great performance. I though Natalie Martinez was HOT!! =]

This turned out to be a fairly predictable action-thriller flick. As you watch you begin to get confused over similarities to other such movies in recent years; even the theme of gladiatorial fights to amuse the crowds is old hat. There really isn?t any serious plot, no depth in acting, inadequate character development beyond surface appearances, and very little originality in special effects, but the violence is palatable and edgy. Jason Stratham thrives in this venue, but frankly did a much better job in The Bank Job. It was fun to see Ian McShane in a much more muted role where his raw and rustic wise Grandpa role could shine without obscenity being the keystone of his expressions. Joan Allen, from the Bourne series, heightened her role as caustic, controlling, demanding, and otherwise ****** character to a new level. Tyrese Gibson as Machine Gun Joe, the rival, and Natalie Martinez playing Case the navigator, did add strength to storyline.

Jason Statham does his thing in this joint .. the action is fast pace and starts from the credits so I was hooked ... Tyreese does a good job in this one too he doesn't come off fake or wack like he might sometimes and both of they're characters mend well and gives the movie a great rivalry ..... all I got to say is the action was crazy hot and this movie is for people who love Blood & Violence ( like do ) so go if you want some serious action and it might be something you saw before but now like this .... not at all .. enjoy ...

Fantastic movie and a must see if you are into action films. I like that it isn't a story that has been told over and over agin. If you liked The Fast and the Furious movies you'll love Death Race too. Stratham gives and excellent performance.
