Are you sure, you want to add Max Payne
to your wish list?
Storyline:
Three years ago, NYPD detective Max Payne's wife and baby were murdered. Max gets himself transferred to the cold case office where he can continue searching for the killer who got away. He's a loner, but two people reach out to him during a fateful week: Alex, his ex-partner who may have found a clue, and BB, the security chief at the pharmaceutical company where Max's wife worked. Meanwhile, bodies are piling up, some as a result of a drug on the street that is highly addictive and, for many who take it, brings hideous hallucinations. When one of the bodies is a woman Payne was the last to see alive, her sister comes looking for him armed to the teeth; Max must move fast.

First off, for true fans of the series - The preview lie, they do not butcher the story all that much as would be expected!
To be honest, I might have to say that this is so far the best game-to-movie attempt that I have seen. True, at times it can be said that acting is flat; I simply explain this with the conversion - In a game, the action and play is the first thing a person goes for, second, flashy characters. Max Payne is supposed to be Dark, full of manic depressive characters that have lost all light and hope. I'd say they hit this spot on.
Fans of the game series will be very pleased I think, as well as anyone new to the story, that enjoys a rough and gritty action movie.

Ok so i am a teenager like 15 years old. I was bought into this movie by the cool trailers but i walked out HATING it. Literally everything about this movie sucked. I am VERY easily entertained. I very rarely hate a movie this much. The movie was booring had no plot line what-so-ever and was soooo cheezy. Save your money. i warned you. If your gonna waste your money see high school musical 3. It probably will suck but at least it wasnt 1 hour and 45 min of pure torture. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE.

Okay, so I went to go see this with my friends today not knowing what it was about at all, other than the fact that it was based on a videogame.
I have to say it was the worst movie I've seen in a long LONG time. Not only was the acting and plot horrible, but the digital effects were only a step up from Power Rangers. I was laughing at the movie the entire time (and let me just tell you, I was not the only one laughing in the theatre). The superslow effects lasted too long and pretty much failed in general (wanna be Matrix, much?). Half the time the bad guys are in bird/angel costumes, which look like they stole from a nearby costume shop. And the random flashbacks about his wife and child get a tad redundent after the tenth time.
It was a complete waste of time and money that I wish could get back. But I guess I should be looking on the bright side, right? At least I got a good laugh out of it.

Yet another movie that would of been 10 times better if it had just STUCK TO THE STORY!!! Really, how hard can it be. With a book, its different, its open to interpretation. Max Payne was a video game. It was all right there, on the screen, LAID OUT In FRONT OF YOU. Easiest freakin' job in the world. But no, they need to change things, add stupid subplots, leave important characters out and generally screw up. If you haven't played Max Payne, it might not be so bad. For me, it was disappointing.
On a good note, Marky Mark does a pretty good job as Max. Although I think they could of gotten someone alittle more gruff.

I thought this movie was entertaining and i also thought mark did another good job. This movie had a lot of gun action and bullet action in it. You need to pay attention to the movie to understand. I thought the special effects were awsome and the color texture of the movie was sick. I loved it, go.
