Jon Artigo serves on the Advisory Board for the American Screenwriter's Association. He teaches in the film department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Although Jon has spent many years performing and teaching improv, his creative drive is in writing and directing feature films. Jon has built his career with partner Andrea Ajemian and is co-owner of Artigo/Ajemian Films in Worcester, MA. His past feature films include Still Green (2007), Freedom Park (2004), and Rutland, USA (2002). He created a TV series called Door 3 Door in 2005, but then The Office happened. In the Summer of 2008 he will be shooting We Got the Beat in Massachusetts. Jon in schedule to direct another feature, Deadly Retreat, in December of 2008. He holds a BA degree from San Francisco State University and is currently getting his teaching credential in English. Jon plans to always teach high school and never stop making films.
His brother is Rob Artigo - radio personality for KGO 810 in San Francisco.He attended over 40 games in the San Francisco Giants 1993 season. He wore a wolf mask to ignite rallies and became known as the wolfman on KNBR 680. He lives and dies the Giants but is said to have a warm place in his heart for the Boston Red Sox.Attended San Francisco State Univeristy from 1993 to 1997. His major was "Speech and Communication Studies". He did not want to study film because he thought it would place his creative mind in a box.He spent a year at Improv Olympic in Chicago, Illinois (1998-1999).He worked with iD Tech Camps for over 5 years teaching kids how to design web pages, create video games and produce movies.The movie Better Off Dead... (1985) and the works of John Hughes in the 1980s are his biggest influences.Credits his relationship with his brother Rob Artigo as being the earliest inspiration of being a filmmaker.Performs with Trevor Morgan in a weekly improv show called Slap My Improv.
