British actor whose career has included a start on British television and forays into feature films. Perhaps his earliest break came in 1991 when he was cast in Edward II (1991). Tiernan followed this with work on TV in Prime Suspect (1991) (TV) and as stuttering psychopath Sean Kerrigan in "Cracker" (1993). Throughout the nineties, he's found good work on TV and especially film, featuring in The Trial (1993), Being Human (1993), Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), Face (1997/I) and The Criminal (1999). More recently he appeared in The Pianist (2002).In his career he's appeared alongside talent such as Angelina Jolie, Adrien Brody, Robert Carlyle, Sigourney Weaver and Anthony Hopkins.

His prosthetic make-up work for the character; Ephialtes in 300 (2006) took 10 hours to apply.
