Travis Stevens was born and raised in Brattleboro, Vermont. He majored in film and sociology at Marlboro College, focusing his studies on the power dynamic between the filmmaker and the audience. He directed and produced three short films ("Tomorrow's Happy" "Sellout" "Love Hates Boy") and taught the film appreciation course 'Your Favorite Movies and Why' before graduating in 1996. Upon moving to Los Angeles Travis began work as a development executive with 'Prosperity Pictures'. He was actively involved in numerous film productions featuring stars such as Minnie Driver , Christopher Walken , Kathleen Turner , Kyra Sedgwick , Mary Tyler Moore and Vincent D'Onofrio . In 2001 he left the company to become editor and film critic for the Internet start-up FilmsOn.com--a pioneer in the tracking and distribution of on-line media content. In 2005, Travis joined international film sales operation Imagination Worldwide working under Pierre David , and became Director of Acquisitions and Marketing in 2007. During this time the company rode a wave of successful genre acquisitions including "The Hamiltons", "The Zombie Diaries", "Psychosis" and "Growth" and received critical praise and award s for Simon Rumley 's "The Living and The Dead" and Chris Sivertson 's "Jack Ketchum's The Lost." Travis also co-wrote/executive produced the film "Summer's Moon" starring Twilight sensation Ashley Greene . In 2010 Travis helped launch Celluloid Nightmares, the genre partnership between Hengameh Panahi 's international sales and production company Celluloid Dreams (Oscar nominated films "A Prophet", "The Secret of Kells", and "Persepolis") and L.A. based XYZ Films. As Head of International Sales, Travis introduced Simon Rumley 's "Red White & Blue" (released domestically by IFC), Thomas Cappelen Malling s "Norwegian Ninja" (Winner Best Director and Best Actor, FantasticFest), Mark Hartley 's "Machete Maidens Unleashed!" and Jon Hewitt 's "X" into the foreign and domestic marketplace. That same year he founded Snowfort Pictures, a boutique production company specializing in the development, financing and production of commercial genre films. The company's first production was 'Adam Wingard''s "A Horrible Way To Die" which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and was immediately picked up for theatrical distribution by Anchor Bay Entertainment. The film won jury award s for Best Actor ( AJ Bowen ), Best Actress ( Amy Seimetz ) and Best Screenplay ( Simon Barrett ) at the 2010 FantasticFest and went on to play numerous festivals around the world. Other Snowfort productions include Adam Wingard 's "What Fun We Were Having: 4 Stories About Date Rape" that premiered at the 2011 Fantasia Film Festival, the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and AFI Film Fest entry "All In All", The Butcher Brothers ' "The Thompsons" (an international co-production with Lionsgate UK), Frank Pavich 's "Jodorowsky's Dune" (an international co-production with Koch Media in Germany and Camera One in France) and "The Aggression Scale" from director Steven C. Miller .
