Sebastian del Amo (Paris, 1971) Mexican by birth but born in France by accident. He graduated from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City as a Cinematographer. In 2012, he presented at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) his first feature as director, "The Fantastic World of Juan Orol". The film obtained several awards, including the Mayahuel for Best First Feature in the FICG,the Mexican Academy Awards (Ariel) for Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Costume Design, the Mexican Press Awards (Diosa de Plata) for Best Cinematography and Best Editing, the Cristal Screen Award (Pantalla de Cristal) for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Suporting Actor, Best Production Design, Best Production Values, Best Audio Design, Best Post Production, the Best Picture Award at the Toluca International Film Festival (FICCHT) and an Honorary Mention for Best First Feature at the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF). Internationally, the film was nominated for the Tiantan Award at the Beijing International Film Festival in China, won the Best director and Best Actor Awards at the International Film Festival of Calanda, Spain, and the ACE Awards for Best Picture and Best Actor, given by the Association of Variety Reporters of New York.
