John Lloyd Young was born on July 4, 1975 in the USA. He is an actor, known for Jersey Boys (2014), The 60th Annual Tony Awards (2006) and The 67th Annual Tony Awards (2013).
Was awarded the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in Jersey Boys on Broadway. His mother died of Cystic Fibrosis when Young was two years old, which he talked about in his Tony Award acceptance speech in 2006. Hosted a radio show called On & Off Broadway, on WCFE in New York. Is fluent in Spanish. Is a member of the William Inge Festival National Advisory Board. Has won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World Awards for his performance as Frankie Valli in the Tony Award-winning musical, Jersey Boys. Was ABC World News Tonight's Person of the Week on Friday, June 16, 2006. Signed a one-year talent holding deal with ABC/Touchstone Television. When he first auditioned for Jersey Boys in California, he did not get the part. Then, when the actor who was chosen left the show before its New York premiere, they called Young again and had him audition several times before he finally landed the part of Frankie Valli. Graduated from Brown University in 1998, where he majored in Theatre Arts and performed lead roles in Company, Once on This Island, and Sweeney Todd. His father had English, with some Welsh and German, ancestry. His mother was of Italian descent. In 2013, Young was appointed by Barack Obama to the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
