At the age of 21 he was nominated for a Hollywood Discovery Award at the 6th Annual Hollywood Film Festival for his short film, 'Vodka, Winter and The Cry of Violin', in which he starred, and also wrote, directed and produced. The film, based on a true story about a Polish couple's perilous twilight plight to save their only son from a Nazi German labor camp during the last winter of WWII, was awarded 'Best International Short' at the 2003 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival and continues to make its festival run.
