During that time his mother would take him to see the latest movies at a movie theater where an uncle of his was the manager. Later, when he was 6 years old, he found the art of painting and did this for many years as he was encouraged and tutored by one of his uncles. When he was 8, he had the first experience as a movie maker wearing as many hats as any filmmaker can wear. He found a large magnifying glass, about 8 inches in diameter. He played with it in the sun burning papers and grass with it. Then, he thought that there had to be a better purpose for such a big magnifying glass. So, he built a wooden box, made a whole in front of it to fit the magnifying glass, and, with the help of his grandfather, put a light in the back of the box. He bought two issues of a comic magazine, cut it into strips and glued them together by their edges to make rolls out of them. He put the rolls of comic strips in between the light and the magnifying glass and projected the illustrations on the wall. One could say that this was the first home projector ever, but he never thought of it that way. However, this was certainly Acosta's first film. Later he was invited to act in a college film, and after graduating he produced several educational films. One clue at a time would later find himself working in the film industry as a producer and director of the second best Christian story ever told, The Divine Comedy - Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso.
