Stevan Mena began making films at age 11 in his backyard. Born in Astoria, Queens, he makes his home on Long Island. His first full length feature, "Malevolence", shot on 35mm for under $200,000, won several award s including Best Feature at the Long Island International Film Expo, and Best Feature at the New York Horror Film Festival, and has become a cult classic. Stevan followed up that film with a 180 degree turn, writing and directing "Brutal Massacre: a Comedy", a mockumentary starring David Naughton and Brian O'Halloran.
The Book "Splatter Flicks, How to make Low Budget Horror Films", by Sarah Caldwell, contains several chapters dedicated to Stevan's debut Feature, Malevolence.
