Jeremy was born in Florence, South Carolina to a single mother, Carolyn, in the early 1980s. At the time, Carolyn had just begun a career in radio as an On-Air Personality, and she struggled to balance both her profession and newfound motherhood. To help, Jeremy's grandmother - a retired educator, and grandfather - a retired Army major, played a vital role in his raising. In the early 1990s, Jeremy and his mother moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where after seeing films featuring children his age as leads, Jeremy became curious about acting. He began taking acting lessons from a local teacher, but did not utilize public school drama programs until well into his high school career at Irmo High School. As a student of drama, Jeremy excelled. He went on to perform as Pippin in the musical of the same name, as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, and many other characters in comedic, dramatic, one-acts and full length plays. Upon high school graduation, Jeremy had ventured out into the public and performed in a season's worth of community theater plays around Columbia and had found professional representation. In college, Jeremy rebelled. He had become at odds with his family and fellow students. As a result, Jeremy dropped out Winthrop University to pursue his own interests. After two years, Jeremy relented and vowed to earn his Bachelors in theater performance for the sake of his family. Upon his return to the university, Jeremy took on such roles as Teach in American Buffalo and Lincoln in Topdog/Underdog. It was his performance in American Buffalo that grabbed the attentions of Chip Decker and Dan Shoemaker, the artistic and executive directors of The Actor's Theatre of Charlotte. Jeremy was soon cast in Charlotte's premiere of Take Me Out, to which he garnered his first taste of public recognition. A bond and friendship had been fashioned between the theater and the fledgling actor. By his graduation, Jeremy had performed in half a dozen productions with The Actor's Theatre and had earned his Equity Card. Meanwhile, Jeremy auditioned furiously for film and television, eventually landing featured and extra roles as well as a spot on One Tree Hill.
