David James Gere grew up in a rural Connecticut town. His mother and sister were tragically killed in a mysterious drowning accident when he was very young. His father, James, an educator, later married Veronica Gere, who raised him. An outstanding student, Gere graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island, receiving a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Film Studies. While in RI, he began modeling and also working on both sides of the camera in films and commercials. David also had a run of short films, docs, and music videos (MTV2) that were critically well-received. He developed a relationship with the emerging Rhode Island directors, Michael Corrente and Peter Farrelly , and got his first break on Outside Providence (1999), a film which Peter and his brother Bobby Farrelly produced and Corrente directed. David Gere is living in Connecticut, furthering his acting and producing career, with several substantial projects completed and in development. David is also an accomplished abstract painter. He often credits his desire to create to the difficult loss he experienced as a boy.
David was signed by Next Model Management for a short time in 1996.David Gere started a production company known as "Shadow Films.".David Gere is very good friends with actor Pooch Hall, the star of the television show, The Game. They met on the set of the film "Outside Providence.".David owns a well known art gallery/lounge, The Shadow Room, located in Connecticut. It has become a hub for artists, musicians, actors, and filmmakers. A film David produced, 'Hard Luck,' starring "Diamond" Dallas Page and Darryl McDaniels was filmed there.
