Storyline:
I.O.U.S.A. examines the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences for the United States and its citizens. As the Baby Boomer generation prepares to retire, will there even be any Social Security benefits left to collect? Burdened with an ever-expanding government and military, increased international competition, overextended entitlement programs, and debts to foreign countries that are becoming impossible to honor, America must mend its spendthrift ways or face an economic disaster of epic proportions. Throughout history, the American government has found it nearly impossible to spend only what has been raised through taxes. The film blends interviews with both average American taxpayers and government officials to demystify the nation's financial practices and policies. The film follows U.S. Comptroller General David Walker as he crisscrosses the country explaining America's unsustainable fiscal policies to its citizens...

A film every American needs to see. Wake up AMERICA. This is what the film does. It explains the problems we as a country have with debt and deficit in terms anyone can understand. And it explains what our government is doing and NOT doing to remedy it. If you are in the dark about what exactly IS our problem as a nation and what we are facing AND what we need to do,you need to see this film. Take a friend and GO SEE IT!!

Saw the premiere last night, followed by a town hall with Warren Buffett. Wow. Yes, this is a documentary, and no, it is not The Dark Knight, but it is equally as scary. This movie was well made and engaging and truly made me fear for the future of my children and grandchildren. If you care at all about the state of the American economy, you MUST SEE THIS FILM.

I've been reading about the coming of this film for several months prior to the opening (see the Agora Financial website at agorafinancial.com) and had been waiting for the premier. I already knew about much of what the film discussed, but it was clear that a lot of our fellow citizens don't. They say this film is to the government debt what "An Inconvenient Truth" was for the environment. I would agree. While the film is a financial documentary, it had it's entertaining moments, catchy visual aids, and some very startling facts that caught me by surprise. If you are interested in why the US economy is in such bad shape right now, and why it is not going to get any better, why the value of the dollar continues to dwindle, and what this means for your future and the future of your family (or the one you plan on having someday) then go see this film.

Anyone in highschool and up needs to see this movie. A fairly unbiased (if that's at all possible) review of the current state of the economy and future predictions. Puts a lot into perspective on the changes the we as individuals can make in our lives to protect ourselves.

So many negative views before this gets public. Why? Because we are a nation of complainers that think we are entitled to everything. This is probably the most important movie, and warning, that you will see in regards to the next 20 years of this country. Anyone under 35, you will not have social security or welfare. This statement is a fact and is obvious as the sky is blue. There is no sugar coating it. Foreign countries own trillions of our dollars. The weaker it gets, the more they dump it back in our laps, which causes inflation. You know, the reason we have high gas and food prices. We are a nation that consumes and borrows. We do not save, and we do not care either. WAKE UP and take your country back.
