Stone acomplishes the daunting task of keeping us from forming any emotional attachment to the main characters while we remain rivited to their outcome. Yes, the dialogue is often goofy, "He doesn't have orgasms, he has wargasms" is just one of many such examples, but the crisp cinematography and excellent turns by Benecio del Toro and Selma Hayek as fully-written villains overcome script deficiencies. My gentle-souled wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed Stone's take on pulp fiction. Not for the squeamish,or anyone under 16.

The end of a film can be as important as the rest of the film combined. Good endings can help a poor film and bad endings can scuttle a good film. So it is with "Savages", a film with such great acting one wishes the limp and disappointing ending had been revised. In fact, it has been. There are 2 endings - pick the one you like, but they are both lame. This is a shame, because for the first 90 minutes this film sizzles, with great performances from seasoned actors Salma Hayek and Benicio del Toro, and newcomers Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson. Photography and music are also up to the task, although personally I find the extreme closeups a little disconcerting, and not necessarily advancing the plot. Sergio Leone was a master at this technique, but Oliver Stone is not his equal here.

I really liked this movie because of everything really. Visually pleasing, fast paced action gorgeous people (Wow, Chon right??) and a great storyline and plot! Even though this is an action movie it does not feel rushed at all! Salma Hayak is perfect! Love!!

Savages was an interesting and twisted experience through the minds of some eccentric, devious and endearing characters. The potential to want to make judgements is obvious, because one might ask, "how can one feel for people who make such choices?" But regardless, these characters are multidimensional and well thought out. The acting is superb and the plot is memorable. I put this movie at a GO only because it might be very troublesome for some viewers.

This is a entertaining flick about two guys who have a small business growing some very good weed in California. Their weed is so good they attract the attention of some bad hombres in the big Mexican drug cartel. Although they try to stay away from them, of course, things go very awry. Don't be put of my the violence - it's not as bad as trailers made it seem. The film sizzles and Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson doing a good job as two best friends - and they are easy on the eyes as well. Benecio Del Toro plays a great bad guy as always, Selma Hayek does a nice job queen of he cartel and John Travolta as DEA agent is good as well. Could have had a better ending but I enjoyed anyway. Definitely an entertaining movie!
