Are you sure, you want to add The Mist
to your wish list?
Storyline:
Everyone thinks of it as a harmless lightning storm. When Dave Drayton notices a strange mist on the lake, he thinks nothing of it. When he, his son, Billy Drayton, and his neighbor Brent Norton travel to the supermarket, the unthinkable happens. On their way to the market, they see the army, firefighters, and the police heading toward the mist. When he sees this Brent mentions something about "Project Arrowhead", a secret military project that no one knows about. As they are shopping, they see three soldiers walk in, pick up a few things, then head toward the mist. All eighty of the store's shoppers have no clue what is going on until an old man runs in the market with a bloody nose and declares "Something in the mist!" He tells them to close the door. About five seconds after they close the door, the entire store shakes, as though it has been lifted several feet above the ground...

this movie was better than i expect...even my wife who is very spiritual and has high beliefs acually liked this movie...stephen king was not trying to degrade the military or christianity...the basis of this movie was to show true human nature in a time of crisis and when order can not be restored with simple reasoning, people will resort to unimaginable thoughts to protect their way of life and thinking even if it is to sacrifice another (i.e. Salem Witch Trials)...the ending was disturbing, yes, but you need to place yourself in the characters shoes and open your mind to human nature at it is finest

All I want to say is that the "reviewers" here who can't restrain themselves from revealing critical plot details are morons. Their email addresses should be noted and they should be blocked from posting future reviews. That kind of review is unfair to the readers and unfair to the people who pour their guts and money into making moves. Very few of them get rich doing so. So to all those who posted important plot details: STFU !

Interesting enough story. Truly disturbing ending. Not scary ending ? disturbing. Hoky special effects. Some of the dialogue & acting were even worse. But almost in a bad 60's B-movie kind of way. The thing we talked about most afterwards (after the shock of the disturbing ending had passed) were the parallels between our current US culture and that of the people in the grocery store. There were those fundamentalist preachy, fire & brimstone types who prey on everyone else?s fears to glorify their own egos, and the poor idiots that follow along blindly by emotion and do what they?re told. Like another ?orange alert? type of thing. The other thing was how social rules, civility and helping one another collapse like a house of cards when the chips are down. The townspeople?s society is collapsed, and the government is nowhere to be found ? remember New Orleans? We walked away wondering if King is tellling us something political. Perhaps.

As a lover of anything written by Stephen King, I have to say that this movie does a good job of visually showing the psychological gut reactions of so called 'civilized" people when it comes to survival. In my opinion, the so called horror is established by the people themselves, with the creatures in the movie as just scene setters. Many people were disappointed with the end of the movie (which Kind never addressed in the short story), but I challenge them to ask themselves...What would you have done in that situation? It also reminds us that not every story has a happy, sunny, ending-especially not in real life. Go see the movie and judge for yourselves.
